Intellectual Property Policy
Effective Date: January 30, 2026
Last Updated: January 30, 2026
For Professors × Professors is an educator-focused marketplace for peer-developed teaching resources. We respect intellectual property (“IP”) and expect all users to do the same.
1. What You May Upload
Everything you post must be either:
A) Fully Original
Created by you (and/or your co-authors) and not copied from a textbook, publisher site, test bank, paid courseware, or another creator.
B) Original + Properly Licensed Third-Party Content
You may include third-party content only if you have documented rights to include it in Materials sold or shared on For Professors × Professors, such as:
- A commercial-use license that permits distribution/sublicensing to end users (as required),
- Written permission from the rights holder,
- Public domain materials, or
- An open license (e.g., Creative Commons) when it permits the intended use and you comply with its terms (including attribution).
2. Common Prohibited Content (Without Permission)
You may not upload or sell Materials containing (without documented rights):
- Textbook pages, instructor manuals, test banks, publisher slides, or paywalled courseware
- Copyrighted images/figures copied from books, journals, websites, or Google Images
- Trademarked logos/mascots used as branding in a way that implies affiliation/endorsement
- Any confidential material or content you are not authorized to distribute
- “Derivative” versions of someone else’s paid slides/assignments that remain substantially similar
3. Attribution Is Not Permission
Attribution does not create a right to use or sell content. If a license requires attribution, include it clearly (e.g., on a references slide/page and/or in the listing).
For guidance on proper citation formats, Creative Commons licenses, and fair use, see our citation help article.
4. Contributor Responsibilities
By listing Materials, you represent and warrant that:
- You own the Materials or have the rights to distribute them on For Professors × Professors,
- Your listing is accurate and not misleading, and
- You maintain documentation for any third-party content included.
For Professors × Professors may request documentation. Failure to provide it may result in removal or account action.
5. Buyer License and Restrictions
Buying a resource grants a license to use, not ownership. Unless a listing states otherwise, Buyers may use Materials for their own teaching and course delivery needs (including use in an LMS for enrolled students in the Buyer’s course), but may not:
- Resell, redistribute, sublicense, or upload publicly,
- Share files broadly beyond what is reasonably necessary for instructional collaboration and course delivery,
- Remove watermarks or attribution notices.
6. Reporting IP Infringement
To report suspected infringement, send a notice to ip@fpxp.io (or support@fpxp.io) with:
- Your name and contact information,
- Identification/description of the work being infringed,
- The For Professors × Professors listing URL or ID of the allegedly infringing content,
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized,
- A statement that the information is accurate,
- Your electronic signature.
For Professors × Professors may remove or disable access to content while reviewing.
7. Counter-Notice
If your content is removed and you believe it was a mistake, you may submit a counter-notice to ip@fpxp.io including:
- Your name and contact information,
- Identification of the removed content,
- A statement (under penalty of perjury where applicable) that you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification,
- Consent to jurisdiction in Maryland/USA (if applicable),
- Your signature.
8. Repeat Infringers
For Professors × Professors may suspend or terminate accounts of users who repeatedly upload infringing content or receive multiple validated complaints.
9. For Professors × Professors’s Role
For Professors × Professors is a platform provider. We do not guarantee all uploaded content is infringement-free, but we take reports seriously, act on credible notices, and enforce repeat-infringer rules.
