Plain-Language Summary

  • We use your account information to operate fp×p and support verification.
  • We use directory links to verify educator affiliation; we do not show your institution publicly.
  • If you upload files, they are used to run marketplace features, including Content Attestation. Uploads are not published as part of the scan.
  • You can request a self-service account export and schedule account deletion from your account settings page.
  • Marketing emails are opt-in. You can unsubscribe anytime.
  • If you verify via LinkedIn, we receive only the data you explicitly authorize (basic profile and workplace verification status). That data is used solely to assess faculty eligibility.
  • We use Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) to measure aggregate site performance and traffic. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or your browser cookie settings.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect:

  • Account details (email, password auth metadata, display name).
  • Verification details (directory URL, review outcomes, institution verification state).
  • LinkedIn OAuth data, where you choose to connect LinkedIn for verification: your LinkedIn profile URL, whether your account carries LinkedIn's WORKPLACE verification (a boolean), whether your account carries IDENTITY verification (a boolean), and the raw verification types returned by LinkedIn's Verified on LinkedIn API. We do not collect your LinkedIn connections, messages, posts, feed, employment history, or any data beyond basic profile identity and verification status. This data is used solely to assess faculty eligibility.
  • Marketplace data (listings, purchases, referral status, payout onboarding state).
  • Uploaded files and generated feature artifacts.
  • Support communications and operational logs.

2. How We Use Information

  • Provide sign-in, account security, and profile management.
  • Review educator eligibility and manage onboarding states.
  • Where you authorize it, use LinkedIn verification data to accelerate faculty eligibility review. LinkedIn data is visible to fp×p administrators and supplements the standard manual review. It does not replace it.
  • Run listing, checkout, payout, and referral features.
  • Run upload-related features (including Content Attestation) requested by contributors.
  • Send transactional product emails and optional marketing updates.
  • Detect abuse, fraud, and policy violations.

3. Sharing and Service Providers

We share data only when needed to operate the service, including with payment processors (PayPal), email delivery providers, cloud hosting (Google Cloud), analytics (Google Analytics), and other operations vendors.

If you choose to verify via LinkedIn, your authorization and the resulting verification data are processed under LinkedIn's Privacy Policy. For Professors × Professors receives only the data you explicitly authorize and uses it solely to assess faculty eligibility.

We do not sell your personal information. Service providers process data under their own terms and applicable law.

4. Marketing Choices

Newsletter signup is separate from account creation. Marketing emails are optional and can be unsubscribed from at any time.

Transactional emails for security, purchases, onboarding, and payout status are still sent as needed to operate your account.

5. Cookies and Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, session continuity, and analytics measurement.

On your first visit, a consent banner asks whether you agree to analytics (Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager). Until you accept, no Google Tag Manager or Google Analytics code loads and no analytics data is sent to Google. If you accept, Google Analytics sets its cookies and we record page views and site interactions in aggregate to improve the site. If you decline, no analytics run and no analytics data is sent to Google. Advertising storage and ad personalization stay off either way.

Your preference is stored in your browser under the key fpxp_consent_v1. To change your preference at any time:

You can also opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by adjusting your browser's cookie settings.

6. AI Services

Certain fp×p features send data to third-party AI providers to generate results. We do not use AI services for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the specific feature you activate.

Anthropic Claude Haiku API: used for Content Attestation (citation analysis of uploaded PPTX, PDF, and DOCX files). When you request a citation scan, the text extracted from your uploaded document is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Per Anthropic's usage policy, data submitted via their API is not used to train models and is not retained by Anthropic after the request completes.

Google Gemini API: used for three features: (1) Course Architect bundle generation (your course intake form answers); (2) Teaching Statement builder draft generation (your questionnaire answers); (3) Syllabus import parsing (the text of a syllabus you upload for parsing). Data sent to the Gemini API is processed under Google Cloud's Data Processing Agreement and Google's Generative AI Additional Terms of Service.

In all cases, your content is sent to the AI provider solely to produce the output you requested. fp×p does not store the full text of uploaded files beyond what is necessary to complete the scan or generate the output.

7. Retention

We retain data for account operation, legal compliance, fraud prevention, dispute handling, and platform reliability. Specific retention periods:

  • Orders, payouts, and financial records: 7 years, as required by tax law. These records are retained after account deletion (pseudonymized where possible).
  • Verification requests: for the life of your account, plus 90 days after deletion.
  • Inbox notifications: 90 days (automatically expired via Firestore TTL).
  • Rate-limit events: 30 days (automatically expired).
  • UTM attribution data: 90 days.
  • Analytics session bridge docs: approximately 1 hour (auto-deleted by TTL after use).
  • Google Analytics data: up to 14 months (Google's default retention).

Account settings include a self-service export and a scheduled deletion flow. Scheduled deletion includes a 7-day cancellation window. When deletion completes, your account is disabled, public contributor display names are anonymized, inbox notifications, notification history, UTM attribution data, and rate-limit records are deleted, and LinkedIn verification data is removed. Financial records subject to the 7-year retention requirement remain but are pseudonymized.

LinkedIn verification data (profile URL, verification status) is stored as part of your verification request record and is subject to the same deletion schedule as other verification records.
